A 30-year-old man identified as Alain Fotso has reportedly been accused of beating up his wife, Arian Kelvine Kengne, 28-year-old to death.

The incident happened recently in Bandjoun, headquarters of of the Koung-Khi Division, West Region of Cameroon.

Reports hold that the couple had been living together for nine years before their official wedding that took place on December 05, 2020.

Not long after their wedding, domestic violence became a new chapter for Arian Kelvine, as she was suddenly transformed into a punching bag. She barely went for a day without receiving beatings from her husband.

“My sister always told me the problems she had with her husband. She told me how she was being maltreated and threatened by her husband. She even told me that her husband once told her that ‘If I kill you now, no one will do anything to me. Besides, who do you have apart from your old grand mother!’,” cried Stella Magne, a cadet sister to the deceased.

Arian’s father, who has been aware of these constant beatings tried to caution his son-in-law on several occasions, but it was like throwing water on a duck’s back.

“I told Alain that he is young, and young people need to listen to elderly people so they surpass the challenges they face in their marital home. You need to be stronger than your wife. so when she speaks loud, you keep calm. I can’t start telling you what I go through on a daily basis with my wife. After the wedding, he hit my daughter up to the point where she felt and lost a lot of blood,” said Joseph Fossouo, Arian’s father.

Arian’s grand mother Jacqueline Simo on her part reported that “I was in the market when they came and told me that my grand daughter had been beaten all night long. I took a commercial motorbike, and when I got to the scene, I saw my grand daughter all exhausted. When I asked her what happened, she told me that ‘grand mum, Alain Fotso has killed me.’ When I held her hand, she fell. She was later take to a hospital in Bandjoun, where she finally died.”

Her medical reports show that she suffered from a fractured score, as a result of domestic violence.

According to sources, Alain Fotso maltreated his wife all along because he suspected her of having an affair.

Arian’s husband, a renowned farmer in this locality specialized in the cultivation of grippes and berries disappeared into thin air after the act he was accused of.

He was however apprehended few days later by the police force in Bandjoun. This couple has four children age 10, 7, 5 and 1 year old. He is currently under police custody, and the family of the deceased wants justice to prevail.
