“Scholarships”: Donga Mantung Behind Fuh Calistus

The different stake holders of the education sector in the Donga Mantung Division of the North West region have praised the Secretary of state at the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development for raising standards among pupils and students.

For the third year running, meritorious pupils and students across the Division have received scholarships from Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry.

The third phase of the Donga Mantung Scholarship Fund was launched on October 7, 2020 through a ceremony at Government Bilingual High School, GBHS Misaje.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Divisional Officer for Misaje, Tchayah Thomas, expressed gratitude and thanks to the promoter of the Donga Mantung Scholarship Fund, H E Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry for the timely gesture that will go a long way to boost back to school and instill hard-work among school children.

“The prizes are magnificent, ranging from FCFA 25.000 to 150.000. This can only come from someone who has the love for children. Dr. Fuh Calistus has never failed to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy,” He added.

Besides the D.O, the mayor of Misaje, Sammy Mgbatta, disclosed that the scholarships have helped a good number of pupils and students in the municipality and many have succeeded to enroll into professional institutions.

“Education Scholarship is the best in terms of human investment, and I am convinced that the 2020/2021 academic year is going to be the brightest compared to the past four years” he noted.

The students on their part were not left indifferent.

Beneficiaries of the scholarship

“I am grateful to Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry for this timely support, it will encourage me to work harder in school” Ebale Divine, a beneficiary of the scholarship told News Upfront.

The scholarship scheme rewards pupils and students following their excellent performance in the various public examinations, FSLC, CAP, GCE (O/L and A/L).

The objective of the scholarship is to encourage meritocracy across the Division as well as to ensure a smooth back to school.

Talking about back to school, various didactic materials and school bags were equally handed over to basic and secondary schools within the Donga Mantung Division.

Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, aware of the health situation in the country due to Coronavirus, made available Covid-19 prevention materials for the various academic institutions.

It should be noted that the scholarship fund for the 2020/2021 school year was over FCFA 18 million.

As if that is not enough, H E Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry has promised to come up with another scheme to improve on the livelihood of the youths in Donga Mantung Division.

After Misaje, the handing over of the scholarships and anti Covid-19 kits to pupils, students and schools continued in other localities.

Ako Sub Division on Thursday October 8, and in Ndu on Friday, October 9, 2020.
