13 persons have been reduced to ashes in a fire accident in Guider, headquarters of the Mayor Louti division of the North region of Cameroon this weekend. Sources say the fire that consumed the houses was as a result of burning insecticide.
Shocked and confusion characterized the atmosphere at Sanguere III, a neighborhood of Guider, upon discovering the burnt bodies of 13 persons among them men, women and children, after a fire breakout.
“I was informed at about 2am that our family house was on fire. Upon arrival, there was no way to enter. An insecticide called MOON TIGER that was burning in the living room against mosquitoes caused the fire”, reported a family member.
11 year old Abdou, one of the victims of the fire incident who survived the flames cameout with injuries, and is now responding to treatment at the district hospital of Guider.
The 13 corpses have been buried already, in conformity with the Muslim tradition, leaving family members and well wishers in pain and distress.
