The importance of health officials within the context of Coronavirus prevention can not be over emphasized.

The medical corps is the most exposed to COVID-19 and the most important is preventing the spread as well.

By fighting against the pandemic, medics have gone pass their normal duties and now cumulate responsibilities.

Visit a hospital or containment centre where Coronavirus patients are hospitalized, you would be amazed with the work of the health officials.

Everything related to health-parental care is now done by doctors, nurses, midwives…etc.

COVID-19 patients are not allowed to get in contact with their family members for safety reasons.

In other words, besides medical care, medics are now the ones taking care of such patients serving them with food when they are hungry, assisting them take their bath, change their dresses and above all keep them company.

According to Dr ATCHA Hamadou, health official at the Cameroon COVID-19 prevention centre, the government has provided all it takes for the wellbeing of patients.

“On special cases, when a patient needs a particular food, or drink, we would relate to the patient’s family who will prepare it and hand over to the medical personnel for transmission, we are trying to avoid direct contacts which is dangerous” she added.

Medical staff have naturally become husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and friends to COVID-19 patients.

They even go on errands for patients.

They do so exposing themselves to the pandemic.

In Cameroon, about 24 medical personnel have been tested positive for COVID-19 and few are reported dead.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie has never ceased to praise the efforts of the medical team.

Even the President of the Republic H. E. Paul Biya recognizes what they do in saving the lives of Cameroonians.
