The Divisional officer for Nkambe Central subdivision, Lawrence Che Ngida has threatened to suspend all absentee teachers under his jurisdiction if they refuse to change from the bad habit.
The DO issued the fresh warning last week in Nkambe during a meeting to prepare for the next school year come October 2020.
According to Lawrence Che, not only will the teachers be suspended but their salaries also.
While acknowledge the fact that secessionist activities have limited mainstream education in the area, he urged the teachers to contribute to the self defence mechanism in which vigilante groups against the separatists groups.
The DO told the teacher it was time enough for them to defeat fear and give the youths of the subdivision which he described as “future leaders of Cameroon” the required education they deserve.
The Civil authority seized the opportunity of the meeting with Education stakeholders to call on the elites of the area to see that they make their own contribution for the education of their youths.
“All the traditional authorities have mobilized and they are solidly behind the DO, craving for effective school resumption” Lawrence Che added.
Last November, the DO, had issued similar administrative threats to primary and secondary teachers that were perpetually absent from work.
Then, a deadline of December 2, 2019 was set for the resumption of the concerned teachers.
Nkambe Central subdivision in the Ndonga-Mantung Division is one of the areas in the Northwest region where Security and Defence forces have staging military might to oust the independence fighters claiming the restoration of the Southern Cameroon statehood.
This has made educational activities an uphill task.
The secessionist equally issued a stern warning of School boycott till the crisis is solved.
This has led to the mass exodus of the youths from the two restive Anglophone regions to the francophone majority towns in quest of education and greener pastures for the job seeking population of the regions.
