The chairperson of the Public Investment Budget (PIB) for Mezam Division, North West region of Cameroon, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju wants all key stakeholders in the process to be part of their respective deliberations and actions.
He was speaking during the fourth quarter follow up session that held in Bamenda on Thursday January 19, 2022.
Focus was on evaluating the level of project execution within the Division, and adopting the way forward for proper execution.
“The first recommendation which we arrived at is to have all the key stakeholders in the different communities actually taking part in our meetings,” Hon. Agho Oliver told reporters after the session.
The key community stakeholders here according to the chairperson of the Public Investment Budget for Mezam are traditional rulers, quartheads, religious leaders (Rev. Pastors, Fathers, Imams) among others.
“We want them to actually attest that the physical and financial execution percentages correspond to community transformation, that is what is important to our people,” he added.
The approach to bring all stakeholders on board is a move that will instill confidence and trust to what is happening on the field.
“That is what makes our people believe that the government is not there for any other purpose, the government is there for the community,” Hon. Agho Oliver recalled.
2022 PIB Execution in Mezam
All the Sub Divisions that make up Mezam scored a pass mark in the execution rate of the Public Investment Budget in their areas.
This was good news to the chairperson of the commission, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju.
“My real concern is to see this execution actually being translated into community transformation, because that it what is important for our people, and that is what makes decentralisation actually visible.”
Santa Sub Division scored the highest mark with a percentage of 96.99, closely followed by Bafut Sub Division with 94.83 percent. On the 3rd position is Bamenda II with 94.58 percent.
Tubah Sub Division is on position number 5 with a percentage of 89. Bamenda III is the last but with a pass percentage of 78.6.
The chairperson of the commission revealed to the members that a field visit to follow up projects under execution in the Division will be organized immediately after the next session of the commission.
